Day Care
Matthew 10:14 - Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
Pre-School Program
Our preschool program is for children ages 3 to 5. We offer a Pre-K5 Program for children who are 5 and need to wait a year prior to entering kindergarten in order to grow socially and emotionally. This program prepares the child for the kindergarten routine.

Wee Learn Curriculum: Beck's Baptist Preschool and Child Care Center adopted the Wee Learn Curriculum in 1994. It is a Southern Baptist preschool curriculum that is broken down into age-appropriate activities.

Children who arrive at the Center have a free choice of activity centers. Our concentrated learning time falls between 8:00 and 11:15. During this time, the child will be involved with the Bible (which is mandatory), calendar, weather, projects, arts, music, basic science, sharing, centers and help with their hygiene needs.

Math and pre-reading skills are administered on an appropriate age level. The theme of the week or month is left up to the teacher's discretion. Lesson plans containing themes and basic activities will be provided for each family so you may know on a day-to-day basis what your child is learning. Teachers work on basic learning skills appropriate for you child's age. Schedules may vary according to the children's needs and to the teacher's goals.

Beck's offers several private classes (i.e., dance, computer, etc.). Parents may elect to enroll their child/children in these privately conducted activities for which the parents are required to pay the individual instructor.
School Age Program
The Beck's Baptist Child Care Center offers before and after school care to kindergarten & up through age 12. Children gather together in the morning where there are a variety of books, puzzles, cards, games, and simple art activities for them to use.

Full Child Care will be provided for enrolled children during the summer, school holidays, as well as days school is closed due to inclement weather or teacher work days.

Nutritious snacks will be provided each day and lunch will be provided on the days when the child is receiving full child care.

After-School Care: Our after school program provides a snack, outdoor play, project time, and Bible Study, which is mandatory. Children are offered the opportunity to participate in music, cooking, creative dramatics, and art. Children may elect not to participate in the group activity and may choose to participate in the after school study program from 3:45 - 4:30.

General Information
Interaction with Teachers: Teachers are happy to talk with you if you have questions or concerns, but are not allowed to discuss matters concerning someone else's child. If you have a concern to discuss with your child's teacher, the teacher will be happy to schedule a meeting (along with the Director if requested). If your concern requires immediate attention, the teacher will locate someone to supervise the children in order to meet with you.

Do not discuss your concerns, whether about a child or an adult, in front of the class. Children become upset when adults raise their voices and exhibit anger. No parent, legal guardian, or any adult responsible for picking up and dropping off a child may disrupt a class or show anger, use profanity or use threatening gestures toward a Center employee. If such behavior is exhibited, the parent or legal guardian will be notified that his/her child(ren) may no longer attend the Center.

Center workers will not discuss other children, workers or Center problems in front of parents, staff, or other children. The Staff is not allowed to discuss a child with anyone other that a parent or legal guardian. If you observe one of the above behaviors, please notify the Director immediately.

Sleep Time Toys: Children may not bring toys, costumes, chewing gum, candy or other things from home. Flowers or other objects of nature, which can be shared with the group, are welcome. Sleeping blankets, pillows, and/or stuffed animals may be brought for use during sleep time only. These items must be taken home each Friday to be laundered.

Child Abuse and Neglect: By North Carolina law, care givers are required to report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect. If such cases arise, the alerted staff worker will report the case to the Center Director who will contact the Protective Services Unit of the Department of Social Services.
Health Information
Medical Report Form: The Medical Report Form must be completed and signed by your child's physician. A copy should be filed in the office before your child is enrolled in the Center. All children must have had all required immunizations. State law demands we have this form the 1st day of attendance.

Medicine: Parents will need to leave notes with The Director or lead teacher for special instructions for administering medicine. Any medication brought to the Center must be in the original bottle with the child's name written or typed on it. No medicine will be given without the parent's written permission. Written permission must be given weekly.

The parent should provide a medicine spoon or like measure for administering medication.

Illness: If a child becomes ill while at the Center, the parent will be promptly notified and the child will be isolated until the parent arrives. In case of emergency, if a parent cannot be reached, the doctor listed by the parent will be contacted.

If a child has symptoms of illness, such as elevated temperature, rash, vomiting or diarrhea, parents are required to keep the child at home.

A child returning to the Center after having a contagious disease must be free of fever (100 degrees or above) and other symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to the Center. (Example: If a child has diarrhea or vomiting today, he may not return to the Center tomorrow.)

You will be notified when any communicable disease is discovered in the Center. The health department will be consulted if necessary.

CPR Training: At least 2 staff members who are certified in CPR or first-aid are on duty at all times.

Nutrition: All children receive the same food unless religious or medical needs state otherwise. The Center must be notified of such needs in writing. Nutritious morning and afternoon snacks and lunch are provided. Breakfast may not be brought into the classrooms. Morning snack is served between 9:00 am and 9:30 am, lunch is served at 11:30 am, and the afternoon snack is served at approximately 2:30 pm. All meals are served by our cook in the Child Care Dining Room. Monthly menus are posted in each classroom.
